So Jill, Rachel and I decided to go on a roadtrip to Las Vegas. Unfortunately we didn't realise it was fight night and couldn't afford a hotel in the city, so we decided to go to the Grand Canyon. So yeah, don't worry, you're on the right page. Again unfortunately we missed our exit - I don't know who was shotgun and missed the exit! *shuffles her feet and whistles* - so instead of going through Flagstaff to the South Rim, we drove an extra couple of hundred miles to the North Rim. Still... we got there! In one piece as well! Hey! Impressive! ![]() So we got there and after getting something to eat at the little cafe there we made our way through the Lodge and... whoa! Dude! That was a hell of a thing! We promptly got out our cameras and began taking many, many photographs. I mean it dude, I'm talking the whole roll of film here. ![]() ![]() ![]() After a couple of hours at the Canyon, we made our way over to Bright Angel Point, 5780 feet above the Colorado river. Once there we climbed up an extra few feet to the top of a rock thingee to find ourselves on a spot with possibly the most awesome view of the entire canyon. ![]() Once there, we immediately began taking more photos! Unfortunately I happen to be scared to death of heights so all the photos have me... crying like a baby, so I'm so not putting those ones up! ![]() ![]() Some time around here Jill realised that although she'd already been to the Canyon, this place rocked and she wanted to take pictures, so she ran off to get her camera from the car. On her way back she took a photo of me and Rachel from about 100 feet away. We looked so tiny! She's promised to send me a copy, and if she ever does, it's so going up here because it's a great photo! ![]() ![]() Eventually, time wore on and the shadows playing on the surface of the canyon walls grew as the sun began to disappear. ![]() ![]() ![]() As night fell we stayed on, taking a last few photos. I wasn't crying anymore, which is always a good thing, so you can see me in some of the photos now. And hey! That Hobees shirt got us all free breakfasts when we got back to Palo Alto. ![]() ![]() ![]() And finally... ![]() So that's it. Quite possibly one of the best days of my life... ever. I have to say, going there was so worth it! It was worth the damn 18 hour trip to get there! And it was worth the $20 to get into the park. If anyone reading this is considering travelling the US, this is the place. Everywhere else pales in comparison to this place. It was, it is... wonderful. |
