Elgin - January 2006

Kate had a party. Kate invited a load of us to it. Kate lives in Elgin, Scotland (think really far north and out of the way). Some of us decided to brave the British public transport systems and make the 7 hour trip up. Yep. We're idiots.

Boo, Matt and I agreed to travel up together, so Miss Cooper and myself made the short journey to Pontefract the day before festivities began. We totally won the pub quiz at the local working men's club aswell. Charles Dickens wrote under the pseudonym Boz. Right here, baby!

And the next day we were on our way to Edinburgh. Only a four-hour train ride. From Edinburgh we caught the megabus for the two-hour trip to Inverness, meeting the Scottish Sarahs on the way.

Once in Inverness Kate and her sister and dad picked us up to take us the final hour of our journey to Elgin. Phew.

After a quick change of clothes,a brush with a dead-dog walking Kiki (save Kiki!), and a quick reassurance by a psychic that all would be well - we were on our way!

Kate's cake - 26 eggs!

Happy Birthday, Kate... you weird... Kate.

Kate and her sister Nina doing the speeches thing.

When the time came for Kate to cut the cake... well if you know Kate you'll know why it was decided not to give her a knife.

Boo and Snr Sarah sit proudly in the outcasts corner. We didn't know anyone and we'd be damned if we were going to be social!

So it turns out I'm a bit of a lightweight and went home early. I know, I know: I suck. But Matt does too! And I'm not going to talk about Kate jumping on me at 3am and then sticking her fingers together with superglue and Jnr Sarah not even making it back home at all! Anyway for obvious reasons I've not got any other photos from that night. So onto day 2!

We're all terribly indecisive so after about 4 hours or sitting in Kate's front room, dithering about we eventually set off to the local bowling alley.

Matt's so manly!

Someone let Kate near one of those dancing machine thingies that terrify me so.

Mentally preparing herself.

Get on yer dancing shoes, ya filthy little swine!

Snr Sarah and Kate deep in concentration.

Check that out - Kate's "perfect".

We left the bolwing alley and headed back to Kate's to get ready for another night out. Urgh. I mean Yay! Socializing. I love to socialize. Huh.

Fake hair - best toy. Ever.

Off to the... uh... club... yay.

Oh dear, that's never a good sign.

Um...

Ah...

Jnr's living it large and you know... stuff. I'm down with the kids.

Boo and Holly

Here's a trick - pinching people makes for amusing photographs

Boo's not looking so good

She had FOUR WKD's. That's all. Four.

Jnr's not looking particularly sober either.

I don't think I even need to say anything for this one.

1am and some of us appear to be flagging.

Snr's still going strong.

Me and Kate - I think I can safely say she's had enough.

Jnr finishes her drink

And we're off home!

Awwww....

Kate gets into bed at the end of a LONG day. Bye Bye Kate!

Up early the next morning and on our way back to Yorkshire, via Edinburgh.

Boo and Snr expect the photos from the weekend.

Boo's asleep. Again.

Snr's so grown up.

Matt makes a brief appearance. Poor lad - ill all weekend. Mwuhaha!

Arrving at Edinburgh we said our goodbyes and went our seperate ways. Me and Boo got the train to Doncaster together.

NOW she's awake!

And home we go, ready for a hard-earned kip after a bloody long, bloody fantastic weekend at Kate's.
